Baby shower games: 24 photo tasks you can print
Most baby shower games are played once and forgotten. A photo task is different: it gets played and it leaves something behind. The mother-to-be spends the afternoon being talked to, opening things and being looked at, and she ends up with almost no pictures of her own party.
The tasks below are written for that afternoon. Several of them point at the person who organised it, the grandmothers and whoever travelled furthest, which is to say the people who never get photographed themselves.

Why photo tasks beat a guessing game
A guessing game fills ten minutes. A photo task fills the whole afternoon, because the guest carries it around and does it when the moment turns up. And it works for the guests who do not want to play anything: holding up a phone is not performing.
It also solves the real problem. Twenty people photograph a baby shower and the photos end up on twenty phones. The mother-to-be sees the four that get posted and never the rest.
The one that matters most
“A photo the mother-to-be could not have taken herself.” It is last on purpose. Everything she missed while she was in the middle of it is exactly what she will want to see afterwards.

Common questions
Where should the cards go?
One at each setting, or handed out at the door. Not a stack on a table: a stack gets picked up by the three keenest guests and nobody else.
Will the quieter guests join in?
More than with a party game, in our experience. A photo task is something you do on your own, in your own time, without standing up in front of anyone.
How many tasks for twenty guests?
Eight to twelve is plenty. Deselect the rest above, and keep the easy ones first: “something handmade” gets people started.
What do we do with the photos afterwards?
That is where they get lost. Put a QR code next to the cards, and the guests upload straight away: everything lands in one gallery the mother-to-be gets afterwards. No app, no account.
The cards are half of it. The photos are the rest
Put a QR code next to the task cards, so the photos land in one place instead of on twenty phones.
