Set up a digital photo booth with a tablet
A tablet can be used as a digital photo booth with no extra hardware needed. Guests take photos directly on the screen, and everything saves automatically to your event gallery.
What do you need?
Tablet (iPad or Android) — nearly any tablet from the last few years will work.
Internet connection (Wi-Fi or mobile data) — required to upload photos.
Snaplet event created — create your event in advance via Snaplet.
Optional stand or holder — makes the photo booth easier for guests to use.
How to set up a tablet as a photo booth
Create or open your event in Snaplet. Sign in with your account and pick the event you want to use.
Activate the photo booth view from your dashboard. This provides a dedicated interface for guests.
Open the view on the tablet in the browser (Safari, Chrome or similar).
Switch to full screen so guests get a focused experience without distractions.
Place the tablet somewhere visible where guests can easily reach it.
Ensure a stable internet connection on the tablet. Without internet, photos can't be uploaded.
Multiple photo booths at one event
You can open the same event on multiple tablets at once. Every photo gathers automatically in the same gallery, regardless of which tablet it was taken on.
This is handy if you have a larger event or several rooms. You don't need to install anything extra — just open the photo booth view on each tablet.
Every photo booth runs independently, so if one tablet loses its connection, it doesn't affect the others.
Internet and stability
Snaplet runs online. The tablet needs to be connected to the internet to upload photos and show the photo booth interface.
Both uploading new photos and showing the photo booth require an internet connection. Use Wi-Fi or mobile data on the tablet.
With a weak or unstable connection, photos can be delayed in uploading. Test the connection before the event starts to avoid surprises.
Tips for a better experience
Use a stand: A simple table stand makes it easier for guests to take stable photos.
Place it in good light: Avoid dark corners. Place the photo booth where there's natural or artificial light.
Test before guests arrive: Take a few sample photos to check lighting, angle and internet connection.
Frequently asked questions
Can I use an older tablet?
Yes, as long as it has a browser and can connect to the internet. Most tablets from the last 4–5 years work fine.
Does it work without an app?
Yes. Snaplet runs in the browser, so there's no app to download or install. It works on both iPad and Android.
Do guests have to sign in?
No. Once the photo booth view is open, guests can just tap and take photos. No login or signup needed.
Can I lock the tablet to the view?
Most tablets have a "Guided Access" or "Kiosk Mode" feature that can lock the screen to one app or browser page.
Can I use multiple tablets?
Yes. You can set up several tablets at the same event, and every photo gathers in the same gallery.
What if the internet drops?
Photos can't be uploaded without internet. Make sure of stable Wi-Fi or use mobile data as a backup if possible.
